Speaking at the event, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said that Vietnam’s economy is shifting towards a growth model and value chain, including significant contributions from science and technology. Techdemo Gia Lai 2019 was held with important significance in promoting technology transfer and practical application. Vietnam’s economic growth in recent years has grown strongly, in which the growth model has had a structural shift, gradually reducing dependence on resource exploitation, raw export and credit expansion. . The quality of growth has been clearly improved, reflected in the increase in labor productivity. The contribution of total factor productivity (TFP) increased from 33.6% on average in the period 2011-2015 to about 43.3% in the three-year period 2016-2018. The average labor productivity growth rate in the 2011-2015 period was 4.3% a year, in the 2016-2018 period it increased to 5.8% a year. In particular, in 2018, the economic growth rate was at a record high in 10 years, reaching over 7%, but credit growth was only below 14% compared to 17-18% in previous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the event, Mr. Ron Ashkin, Project Manager of Connecting Small and Medium Enterprises of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID LinkSME), shared that the best way to help Vietnam’s economy grow sustainably is through Ministries, departments, sectors and international donor agencies come together to support small and medium enterprises. The USAID LinkSME project was established with the mission to change the system and strengthen the connection framework for small and medium enterprises, thereby helping small and medium enterprises participate in the supply chain.
