The Science and Technology program for sustainable development in the Southwest region for the period 2014-2019 is a national science and technology program approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Decision No. 734\/QD-BKHCN dated April 18, 2014. The objective of the program is to provide scientific grounds for the planning and implementation of strategies and policies for sustainable development in the Southwest region in the period to 2030, with a vision to 2050; propose interdisciplinary science and technology solutions to promote intra-regional and inter-regional linkages in sustainable development in the Southwest region; effectively deploying S&T solutions for socio-economic development in the Southwest region identified in the S&T development strategy for the period 2011-2020 according to Decision No. 418\/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is co-chaired by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. During the implementation process, the two co-chairing agencies have actively gathered leading scientists from typical institutes, universities and enterprises across the country to participate in the implementation of S&T tasks to focus on solving problems. Fundamental issues related to the sustainable development of the Southwest region. The program has approved and implemented 62 tasks; in which there are 21 tasks in the field of social sciences, humanities and sustainable development, 41 tasks in the fields of natural sciences, science and technology and environment. Up to now, the Program has accepted 21 tasks and is continuing to implement 41 tasks (including 25 pre-acceptance tasks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thereby, the Program implemented and implemented more than 150 records and reports, more than 90 technological processes of all kinds, published 125 articles in domestic and international journals; registered 25 intellectual property, 16 useful solutions and transferred to units and enterprises; deploying more than 100 models in practice and more than 100 products of all kinds, bringing positive effects to socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conference, the delegates discussed and proposed the content of the Science and Technology Program for sustainable development in the TNB region in the 2021-2025 period to report and submit to the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Government for consideration and approval.
