Vietnam exports $3.8 billion of fruit and vegetables per year, but the spoilage rate is often high 40%. The value of Vietnam’s agricultural products is low because there are no effective measures to solve the problem of post-harvest preservation. Meanwhile, the use of plastic bags for preservation also gives rise to another problem: Environmental pollution from plastic waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that concern, BIOSTARCH has launched a product that combines Vietnamese ingredients and wisdom: Bio-preservation bags. This product is made from bioplastic beads whose main ingredients are starch and petroleum-based primary plastic, with pores to help push out Ethylene gas (cooking gas) out and balance the temperature in the bag, helping vegetables and fruits. Fruit stays fresh longer from  10-20 days, suitable for agricultural exports and food distribution chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is one of the four main gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the advantage of a short decomposition time (2-5 years), bioplastics will significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste in the natural environment. After the mineralization process, the product will completely disappear in the natural environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The target customers that BIOSTARCH is targeting are Vietnamese fresh fruit and vegetable export companies that need effective packaging for post-harvest fruits and vegetables. For export fruits and vegetables, foreign customers also require environmentally friendly packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A representative of BIOSTARCH said: \u201cFood preservation packaging made from biofilms delivers sustainable value to all parties in the value chain, from farmers, producers and end consumers.
