On August 31, 2023, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Can Tho City in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the city and the City’s Bonsai Association held a workshop “Orchid growing profession to serve urban agriculture associated with tourism development”. The workshop is one of the important activities in the series of events, the eighth orchid contest, seminar and exhibition, 2023 in Can Tho.
The presentations of speakers from Ho Chi Minh City, departments, branches, gardeners in Can Tho city updated and shared experiences in developing a model of orchids with high economic efficiency and develop models of growing orchids associated with tourism. In addition, the participants discussed and proposed solutions to develop orchid farming.
Delegates said that in order to develop a functional industry model, it is necessary to review and assess potential and production planning appropriate to local conditions, create favorable conditions for individuals, organizations and businesses with experience investing in the field of orchid growing, support people and businesses to promote the application of scientific and technical advances to develop a variety of orchid growing models, especially orchid growing models that adapt to urban space and grow orchids on a large scale together with ecotourism development. Thereby, creating close links in the stages of production, consumption, trade promotion, diversifying industries from orchids, increasing the value of orchids.
