Workshop on “Application of technology in agricultural production”

On September 20, the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advancement, Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City held a seminar on “Application of technology in agricultural production”.

Participants in the workshop included: Mr. Truong Hoang Phuong – Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city; Ms. Vu Thi Hieu Dong – Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Soc Trang province; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of Dong Thap province; representatives of the Departments of Science and Technology of the Mekong Delta provinces; Ms. Pham Thi Ly – Director of Center for Enterprise Integration and Development (IDE) – Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises; MSc. Hoang Dat Hiet – Center for Research and Development of Hi-Tech Agriculture in Ho Chi Minh City; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Van Dong – Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Fruits and Vegetables; a number of press agencies, broadcast on television, together with relevant participants. The conference aims to raise awareness of manufacturers, distributors and businesses about the application of high and new technologies in agricultural production. At the same time, connecting and transferring application of technical advances to improve productivity and added value of products in both domestic and export markets. Accordingly, the speakers focused on presenting presentations on: traceability system for agricultural products and food; techniques for growing organic nutritious leafy vegetables; introduce some results on breeding and technical progress in the field of flowers and ornamental plants… According to the assessment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2018, science and technology contributed 30% of the added value of products. Currently, the trend of converting to agricultural production in the direction of high technology and industry is growing. Therefore, many delegates suggested that functional industries in the Mekong Delta in general and Can Tho city in particular should create conditions and play a connecting role so that new techniques, technologies and plant and animal varieties reach farmers. . In the strong competitive trend of international economic integration, especially the impact of the industrial revolution 4.0, besides the application of new production processes and the application of high technology, Can Tho city needs to interested in chain-based production management to make the origin of agricultural products transparent, meeting increasing demands from domestic and foreign consumers.
