The Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city organized the mid-term evaluation council of the city-level science and technology project “Research on chemical composition and biological effects towards antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant of Cay Cang cua – (Peperomia pellucdia)

On August 09, 2023, The Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city organized the mid-term evaluation council of the city-level science and technology project “Research on chemical composition and biological effects towards antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant of Cay Cang cua – (Peperomia pellucdia)”. The project is co-chaired by Msc. Nguyen Thi To Uyen, and CASTA is the lead agency.

The project has been carried out with the main objective to Study on biological activity and high standardization of semi-finished products of Cang cua plant extract. The duration of the project is from July 2022 to December 2023.

Up to now, the project has carried out the main work contents: Collecting material samples and identifying Cang cua plant; Preparation and characterization of extracts from Cang cua plant; Quantification of total polyphenols, flavonoids and alkaloids in extracts of Cang cua plant; Investigation of biological activities (antibacterial, antioxidant) of the extract

At the same time, the project has achieved the following products: Registered and granted codes on the NCBI gene bank with ITS DNA sequences of Cang cua plant (OQ735428.1); Guide 02 students and 01 graduate student successfully defended the graduation thesis; 01 paper published in Q4 (Journal: Veterinary Integrative Sciences).

The council highly appreciated that the project has been carried out in accordance with the description with the work progress and the product meeting the requirements. The Council unanimously agreed to let the project continue as planned.
