On the morning of August 5, 2020, the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City held a Selection Council for the topic “Development of a MICE tourism model in Can Tho City” by Mr. Nguyen Khanh Tung – Department of Culture, Can Tho City Sports and Tourism and Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh – Business Research Institute – University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City as co-chair.

The research objective of the topic is to evaluate the potential and current status of MICE tourism in Can Tho city; building a pilot model of MICE tourism and implementing pilot operation in Can Tho; propose solutions to develop MICE tourism in Ho Chi Minh City. Can Tho, contributing to sustainable tourism development in Can Tho city.
The contents of the project include: Assessing the potential and current status of MICE tourism in Can Tho City; Building, operating and evaluating MICE tourism model in Can Tho city; Proposing solutions, proposing mechanisms and policies to develop MICE tourism in Can Tho city.
The topic to be implemented will serve as a basis for city tourism to promote tourism development of the city in general and MICE tourism in particular; Proposing appropriate solutions in developing the quality of MICE tourism, ensuring sustainable development; The research results will actively support the advisory work of the People’s Committee on MICE tourism development policy; City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related units for tourism development in general and MICE tourism in particular.
The selection committee has unanimously approved the topic, but the research team needs to revise the explanation according to the comments of the members of the committee.
