CASTA organized an international scientific conference “Application of biotechnology in pharmaceutical”

On April 10, 2023, at the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city, an international scientific conference “Application of biotechnology in pharmaceutical” took place.

Attending at the seminar were Mr. Ngo Anh Tin, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city; leaders of Departments of Science and Technology of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta; Departments, Boards, Branches, Institutes – Universities, Enterprises, press agencies in Can Tho city. In particular, the seminar was attended by professors from the University of Picardie Jules Verne University, France.

The objective of the Conference is to publish research results in the field of biotechnology application in pharmaceutical chemistry in order to develop products from medicinal herbs and drugs of biological origin for health care and life.

At the workshop, the rapporteurs presented presentations with the topics: “Plants and secondary metabolites of pharmaceutical interest: biochemical exploration and elucidation of biosynthetic pathways (cases of Linum and Isatis)”; “Hairy roots: exploratory tools for the elucidation of plant metabolism and/or – biotechnological process for the production of molecules of interest (case of Vitis and Nauclea); “Relationships between endophytic bacteria and medicinal plants on bioactive compounds production”.

The conference was held successfully, contributing to improving knowledge and skills for scientists, students and managers in this field. The delegates discussed and clarified the contents of research methods, application techniques, application potential and product development.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Ngo Anh Tin, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city emphasized: The Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city is pleased to welcome and thanks for the participation of professors from Picardie Jules Verne University, France, which is contributed to the success of the Workshop. At the same time, we hope to further develop cooperation activities between the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city and Picardie Jules Verne University in the future.
