On March 12, the Department of Science and Technology of Cần Thơ City organized the 2024 Science and Technology Enterprises Gathering. The event aimed to engage with businesses, hear about their production and operations, and provide support and solutions to help them grow.
The event was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Hè – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cần Thơ City, Mr. Ngô Anh Tín – Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Cần Thơ City, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Hải – Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Cần Thơ City, Mr. Nguyễn Đức Tâm – Director of the Cần Thơ Regional Branch of the Development Bank, Mr. Lê Văn Sơn – Chairman of the Credit Guarantee Fund, along with representatives from the Tax Department of Cần Thơ City and 12 science and technology (S&T) enterprises as well as potential future S&T enterprises in Cần Thơ.
The gathering provided an opportunity for city and department leaders to listen to businesses, engage in discussions, assess production and business activities, and address any issues or challenges faced by enterprises. This feedback will help the People’s Committee develop timely solutions to support S&T enterprises, contributing to the growth of the S&T business community and the city’s overall economic and social development goals. The event covered topics such as introducing development activities for S&T enterprises in 2024, awarding S&T enterprise certificates, discussing the first-ever 2024 Science and Technology Awards, addressing operational challenges, and providing feedback to enterprises.
From November 1, 2022, to October 31, 2023, the Department of Science and Technology of Cần Thơ City supported and guided the certification process, granting four S&T enterprise certificates. As of October 31, 2023, the city had 12 active S&T enterprises operating in fields such as engineering and technology, agricultural science, information technology, and construction.
In his address at the gathering, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Hè acknowledged the challenges and contributions of businesses. He emphasized that some companies had achieved great success in international markets, offering valuable opportunities for enterprises to access scientific and technological advancements and international trade. Between 2022 and 2025, Cần Thơ City plans to collaborate comprehensively with central ministries, regional agencies in the Mekong Delta (ĐBSCL), and other parts of the country. This collaboration will facilitate the transfer of science and technology between provinces and nations, contributing to the city’s economic and social development. While acknowledging the advantages, Vice Chairman Hè also asked businesses to understand and share the city’s challenges, including delays in addressing issues related to land and capital. He assured that Cần Thơ City will implement specific policies and operate effectively to support local businesses in the near future.
At the event, the Department of Science and Technology of Cần Thơ City awarded S&T enterprise certificates to four companies: TGO SOFTWARE Co., Ltd., Mekong Clean Sand Technology JSC, IIT JSC, and KATEC Technology JSC. Additionally, the department proposed the organization of the first-ever 2024 Cần Thơ Science and Technology Awards.
