Dr. Hà Minh Hiệp, Acting Chairman of the National Committee for Standards and Quality Measurement, stated that the Law on Product Quality, enacted in 2007, has raised awareness of quality and the responsibilities of businesses, organizations, and individuals in product quality management. This law has facilitated business production and the signing of new-generation free trade agreements.
Mr. Hiệp emphasized that efforts to improve public communication and management capacity have been intensified, but various shortcomings still exist. Legal documents lack consistency, and the evolving context demands changes in quality management practices. Vietnam needs to enhance its national quality infrastructure and ensure that certification activities meet international standards.
The Committee is proposing amendments to the law, focusing on four key policies: identifying specific high-risk product groups, applying new technological solutions in quality management, building a national quality infrastructure, and increasing the management responsibilities of ministries, sectors, and localities to create favorable conditions for businesses.
