On October 24, 2023, CASTA organized a Council to self-assess the results of implementing the city-level science and technology task “Research on chemical composition and biological effects towards antibacterial and antibacterial effects of Peperomia pellucida “. The project is chaired by Msc. Nguyen Thi To Uyen, and CASTA is the lead agency.
The project was carried out with the main goal of investigating the biological activity and high standardization of semi-finished products of plant extract. Project implementation time is from July 2022 to the end of December 2023.
The project has been completed according to the registered contents including:
(1) Collect raw material samples and identify them
(2) Preparation and characterization of extract
(3) Quantification of polyphenols, flavonoids and total alkaloids
(4) Investigation of biological activities
(5) Develop a high extraction process with antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activity
(6) High standard of whole crab plant (Peperomia pellucida L.)
The project has achieved main products including:
(1) The DNA sequence of the ITS and matK regions of the Cicada plant has been assigned a number stored on the NCBI gene bank;
(2) Chemical composition and results of biological activity assessment: antibacterial, antifungal, anti-oxidant);
(3) 02 scientific articles: “Antioxidant and in vitro antidiabetic activities of Peperomia pellucida (L.) Kunth extract” published in the Journal of Veterinary Integrative Sciences in 2022; and “Chemical Composition and Biological Activities of the Extracts of Peperomia pellucida Fractions” published in The Natural Products Journal – 2023.
(4) High extraction process has antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties
(5) Table of standardization of extract materials
(6) 500 grams of plant extract
(7) Guide 01 graduate student and 04 undergraduate students who successfully defended their graduation theses
The Council highly appreciated that the project was implemented according to the explanation and achieved a product that met the requirements. However, the project management board needs to make corrections in the reports to complete them before official acceptance. The Council agreed to accept the project basis.
